Brendan Johnston (b.1984) Graduated from McGill University in Montreal before pursuing a career as an artist. He studied academic drawing, painting, and sculpture at the Harlem Studio of Art and The Grand Central Atelier in New York, from which he graduated in 2012. He is devoted to representational painting and sculpture, and has of late concentrated his attention primarily on portraiture. He has achieved acclaim for his stone and terra cotta sculptures. In 2019, he was included in the BP Portrait Award and his painting ‘Arcus’ was exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in London, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh, and the Ulster Museum in Belfast. In 2022, he received The Society of Portrait Sculptors’ First Prize for his stone carving ‘Tiburtinus II’. He has also received several awards from the Salmagundi Club and the Art Renewal Center. He most recently exhibited work at the MEAM museum in Barcelona.
