Paul Schulenburg

Paul Schulenburg is a full time painter living on Cape Cod. He has shown his work at Addison Art Gallery in Orleans for 22 years.

Schulenburg studied fine art painting at Boston University College of Fine Arts in the late 70's. Contrary to the trends of that time, Boston University provided an educational foundation that emphasized the fundamentals of classical art training: anatomy and form, color, composition and draftsmanship. His professors included Joseph Ablow, David Aronson, Morton Sacks, and John Wilson. He received his BFA degree in painting in 1979.

In the 1980s and ‘90s Paul created artwork for publication. His work has appeared and been published worldwide. Former clients include: Digital, Cigna, Fidelity, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Sunoco, TIME, U.S. News and World Report, The Wall Street Journal, Cahners, Prentice Hall, Houghton Mifflin and Ziff-Davis.

In 1999 Schulenburg turned his attention back to fine art and hasn’t looked back. In addition to Addison Art Gallery on Cape Cod he is represented by George Billis Gallery of Westport Connecticut and Los Angeles California. His work has won many awards and he has been featured in numerous publications such as American Art Collector and Fine Art Connoisseur Magazines. He is a member of the Salmagundi Art Club in NYC and the Portrait Society of America.

Paul has hosted group figure and painting sessions at his studio on Cape Cod since about 2007, with up to 15 artists in the room. During the time of Covid-19 Paul made these sessions available to artists across the globe and he regularly has people painting along and chatting with the group through Zoom ranging from Hawaii to Italy.
